What Does a School Field Day Cost in Miami-Dade or Broward?

The short answer

A typical elementary school field day in Miami-Dade or Broward — multiple attractions, trained staff, and generator power — runs $2,600 to $3,200. Smaller single-grade events land closer to $1,200–$1,800. Large K–8 campuses running staggered grade rotations across a full day can reach $4,500–$6,000.

The spread comes down to four variables: how many attractions, how many hours, how many staff, and whether your venue has power.

What is inside a $2,600–$3,200 field day

Not every school buys every line. The two that get cut first — and should not — are attendants and generators.

The four things that move the number

1. Attraction count, not attraction size

A 140-foot obstacle course costs more than a 40-foot one, but the bigger driver is how many separate stations you need to keep a grade rotating. Ask us to build to your rotation plan — how many kids, how many minutes per station — rather than to a wish list. It usually lowers the number.

2. Hours on site

A four-hour window and a seven-hour window are different events for staffing and delivery scheduling. If your grades run staggered from 8:30 to 2:30, say so up front.

3. Staffing

Attendants are $300 per person per 4-hour shift. Schools sometimes plan to staff attractions with parent volunteers to save money. An untrained adult supervising a moving attraction is exactly the scenario your risk office worries about — and volunteers disappear when their own child's class rotates through. Budget for staff on anything mechanical, anything with water, and anything with a slide over 15 feet.

4. Power

If field day is on your campus blacktop, count your outlets before you assume you are covered. Each blower needs continuous power for the entire event, and running four blowers off two classroom outlets trips breakers. If the event is at a county or city park, assume you need generators — most park pavilions in Miami-Dade and Broward have no usable power. Generators run $119–$249 each.

When to book — this is the part that costs schools money

April and May are the tightest two months in South Florida's event calendar. Broward County Public Schools and Miami-Dade County Public Schools end their years about a week apart, which stacks nearly every field day in the region into two overlapping peak weeks. Inventory for those dates is committed early.

Book your field day in January or February. Schools that call in March are choosing from what is left, and schools that call in April are often choosing a different date. Booking early costs nothing and does not lock your headcount — we adjust the quote as your numbers firm up.

Ways to lower the number without lowering the day

• Shorten the window. A tight four-hour rotation costs less than a loose six-hour one and usually runs better.
• Trade one giant attraction for two mid-size ones. Better throughput per dollar for large grades.
• Combine grades or campuses. One delivery serving a K–8 campus beats two separate events.
• Book the shoulder date. A Thursday in mid-April prices better than the last Friday in May.
• Bundle everything with one vendor. One delivery, one COI, one W-9, one invoice — and no second delivery fee.
