Do You Need a Generator? Power Planning for Park Events

Last year we delivered more than 900 generators — the overwhelming majority to events where the organizer had assumed the park pavilion outlet would be enough. Most county and city park pavilions across Miami-Dade and Broward either have no usable exterior power, have outlets that are locked or dead, or have a single 15-amp circuit that cannot carry multiple blowers.

Here is how to know what you actually need, before setup morning.

Why inflatables need continuous power

An inflatable is not inflated once and left alone. A blower runs the entire time the attraction is in use, holding pressure against the constant air loss that keeps the unit safe and soft. Cut the power and the unit deflates within a minute or two. There is no battery option and no generator-free workaround — if the attraction is up, the blower is running.

That means power is not a nice-to-have line on the quote. It is the same category as the attraction itself.

How much power does your event need?

Add concession machines to the tally — a popcorn or sno-cone machine draws real current and should not share a circuit with a blower. Our generators run $119 to $249 depending on load, delivered fueled and placed by our crew.

Four questions to answer before you book a park

1. Is there exterior power at the pavilion, and is it unlocked? Many pavilions have outlets behind a locked panel that only parks staff can open, and only on request during business hours.
2. How many circuits, and what amperage? Four outlets on one 15-amp circuit is one circuit, not four. Two blowers on one circuit will trip it.
3. How far is the outlet from where the attraction goes? Blower cords have limits, and running long extension cords across a public walkway is both a trip hazard and a voltage-drop problem.
4. Does your permit allow generators? Most parks do; a few restrict placement or hours. Ask when you pull the permit, not after.

Parks are where the demand is — plan for it

A large share of the events we deliver in Miami-Dade and Broward happen at county and city parks rather than in backyards, because parks give families and organizations the space, shade and parking a home cannot. That is exactly why generator planning matters so much here: the venue that solves your space problem creates your power problem.

If you are booking a pavilion for a birthday, a church picnic, an HOA community day or a city event, treat generator power as part of the base quote. It costs less than the attraction and it is the difference between an event and a refund conversation.
